New Horizons of Prayer

"Believing is Seeing", originally uploaded by JB Photo.

24/7 prayer has moved on to New Horizons Christian Fellowship. Based at Woodhall Farm Community Centre, New Horizons simply doesn't have the facility to host a 24/7 prayer room for the week. So instead they are organising a rota of prayer.

Already a substantial prayer list has been circulated to all in their community and prayers are beginning in earnest. Now if you would like to join with them by committing to an hour or so in prayer then please contact Lillian Andreasen at the following

But when you pray...

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Did you know 247 Hemel hit the papers?

Prayers go to Heaven 24/7 for all of you in Hemel
.
Hemel Hempstead could see some divine intervention during the next few months as churches in the tow conduct continual prayer day and night for the blessing of the town and borough.
And many would argue it is much needed to help residents and businesses of the town continue to recover after the Buncefield disaster.
.
Cllr Jane Hogg, Mayor of Dacorum during the Buncefield explosions, lit a candle of prayer on Sunday (October 1) at Adeyfield URC Church in Leverstock Green Road to mark the start of continuous 24-7 prayer.
.
The prayer initiative, sponsored by Churches Together in Hemel Hempstead, has the support of most of the major denominations in the town.
.
Associate Pastor of South Hill Church, Vaughan Allen said: "This closer working relationship between churches has been good for our town. There is a strong sense of common purpose to see Hemel prosper spiritually, especially in the wake of the Buncefield explosion. The result of this prayer initiative is that for the next few months someone, somewhere will be praying for you."
.
Cllr Hogg pioneered the initiative during her mayoral term last year by calling the church leaders together to pray and consider the possibility of running 24-7 prayer across the town.
.
Details of the locations of each prayer week can be found at http://www.247hemel.co.uk/

24-7 Prayer to move to Maranatha

After the blessing of the daily gathered prayer meetings at Haven House, 24-7 prayer will move across to Maranatha Church from Sunday evening at 8pm. Prayer Room opening hours are in place and commitments are being sought to cover out-of-hour times.

It's individual notes played together that makes a symphony

Would you like to commit to covering one 1-hour slot a day over the next week? If so, let Maranatha know that you are joining with them in prayer and they will mark you down as covering that time period as we seek to pray 24-7 for God's will for our lives, our churches, our town, our nation and the wider world.

Opening hours will be posted VERY soon.

Success at Carey

A prayer booklet used as a prayer aid in the prayer room at Carey Baptist

Carey Baptist has held a successful week of prayer, hosting all sorts of people who have made a sterling effort to support Stephen's pioneering prayer in the town centre. Not without its unique challenges and opportunities, Carey has hosted a wonderful sense of God's presence as they tabernacled in a very poignant prayer journey.

Stephen Wood, Senior Minister at the church was struck by the sense of privilege at being able to come before the presence of God, passing through into the physical tent from the prayer room in such an easy manner was a symbol of the spiritual access granted us only in and through Christ.

Prayers are are about people. A great little idea of recording human prayers on the wall.
The sense of God's presence was tangible, and in the prayers an urgency and fervency that was very real. Well done, Carey, and all those who have prayed with them this week.

.
Monday 10.00am - 8.00pm
Tuesday 10.30am - 9.00pm
Wednesday 9.00am - 3.30pm and 7.30pm - 10.00pm

Non-traditional aids to prayer

Prayer & Creativity Go Hand in Hand

Adeyfield have had a tremendously successful first week of 24-7 with some real creativity and heartfelt expressions of prayer. Prayer requests and prayers line the wall. Kettles are pressed into service. Cushions become prayer stools. And people begin to call on their Father God and draw near to him.
.
"I have posted watchmen on your walls, Hemel Hempstead; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes the City of God and makes her the praise of the earth."

247 Prayer has begun in Hemel

Congregants file forward to light many small candles of prayer in a special opening service to celebrate churches coming together to pray 24-7 across the town of Hemel

24-7 prayer in Hemel has begun with a marvellous send-off at Adeyfield Free Church last night. Jane Hogg, former Mayor of Dacorum (pictured above) lit the first candle of prayer as a good crowd of folk representing at least ten churches in the area gathered together for a time of worship and prayer.

Graham Richardson, Chair of Churches Together in Hemel, said: "Any great (!) leader leaves a legacy. If the result of my chairing of Churches Together over the last three years is 24-7 prayer then I would be absolutely thrilled."

He went on to say, "I am delighted that this initiative has now come to fruition. 24-7 prayer is another step towards the vision of there being ‘one church’ in Hemel Hempstead with different congregations."

Jane Hogg, former Mayor of Dacorum relights the fire of prayer in Adeyfield's Prayer Room

Jane Hogg spoke of the inspiring example of the Moravians who started a 100 year continuous prayer meeting and then lit a candle as Marie Allen sang a stirring, unaccompanied rendition of "Go Light Your World" by Kathy Troccoli.

Our thanks to all the folk at Adeyfield who hosted us so superbly yesterday.
